Lifting question: What's the difference between wrist *wraps* and lifting *straps*? I see people using both on pressing and pulling days. When is one more appropriate than the other?
Simple:
**Wraps = Support.** You use them on pressing movements (bench, overhead press) to keep your wrist joint straight and supported. They *support* your wrist.
**Straps = Grip.** You use them on pulling movements (deadlifts, rows) when your *grip* fails before the target muscle does. They *bypass* your grip.
TrainTitan nailed it. Wraps for pushing (support). Straps for pulling (grip). Don't use straps on everything, you still need to build your grip strength. But they are a tool to use on your heaviest sets so you can overload your back/hamstrings properly.
That clears it up perfectly. Wraps for support, straps for grip. Makes total sense. Cheers!
