AnaboMod, this is a very important question. Letrozole is an extremely powerful AI, and it is usually reserved for emergency situations to reverse existing gyno. It can crash your estrogen levels completely, which leads to a host of other side effects like joint pain and lethargy. Arimidex is a much more moderate AI and is better for preventative and maintenance dosing. I would start with Arimidex at a low dose (0.5mg EOD) and get blood work to see where your estrogen is at.

I agree with RecoveryRx. Use Arimidex for maintenance. If you feel a gyno flare-up coming on, start with a dose of 0.5mg every other day. Letrozole is a very powerful tool for a specific problem (reversing existing gyno), but it's overkill for mild sensitivity. The key is to find the right dose that keeps you in a healthy range without crashing your estrogen.

Letrozole is a nuclear option. It will get rid of the gyno, but the side effects from crashed estrogen are very unpleasant. You'll lose your libido, feel lethargic, and have achy joints. It's a tool to use sparingly and only when you have a lump that needs to be reversed. For prevention or mild symptoms, Arimidex is the better choice.

Crashing your estrogen is not a healthy state for your body to be in. Estrogen is important for joint health, mood, and cardiovascular health. You want to keep it in a healthy, controlled range, not eliminate it entirely. Arimidex is designed for this. Letrozole is an emergency drug.

A good strategy is to start with a very low dose of Arimidex from the beginning of your cycle, or at least have it on hand. The goal is to prevent the symptoms from ever starting. Prevention is always better than a cure, especially when the cure has its own set of problems.

One more thing, if you do decide to use Letrozole for an existing lump, you need to titrate the dose very carefully. A dose of 1.25mg EOD for a week is a common protocol, but you must be prepared for the side effects. It's a tough road.

Final word: use Arimidex for maintenance and prevention. Use Letrozole as a last resort for an existing gyno lump, and do so very carefully.
