Strength training gets misunderstood as testing ur 1 rep max every week u don't build strength by constantly proving how strong u are. U build it through quality volume, technique, progressive loading and enough recovery. Research supports resistance training across a range of approaches with heavier loading particularly useful for maximizing strength while multiple sets remain important for hypertrophy that's Y I like having both heavy work and supporting volume the max should be a test of the training not the training itself

I used to test my max way too often & once I stopped my regular working sets actually started moving better.

I’ve found that keeping some heavy sets in the program gives me confidence without needing to max out constantly.

For me technique under heavier loads was a huge part of getting stronger A stronger lift isn’t much use if the form falls apart.

I like having different rep ranges throughout the week it keeps training interesting and gives me more ways to progress.

Brother recovery became much more important once my numbers started getting heavier i couldn’t train like I was a beginner anymore.

My best PRs usually came after several weeks of solid training not from randomly deciding to test myself.
