Interval Training vs. HIIT: What's the Difference?

by VO2Commander » Sat Mar 08, 2025 12:00 am

Are interval training and HIIT the same? Not quite!
While both involve work and rest periods:
  • Interval Training: A broader term for any workout with alternating periods of effort and recovery.
  • HIIT: A specific type of interval training characterized by *maximal or near-maximal effort* during work periods, followed by *short, incomplete recovery*.
"All HIIT is interval training, but not all interval training is HIIT."
Which style do you use more?
